Cupcake Pops!

I'm taking a little break from the "fun" of packing/moving to spotlight another one of my favorite blogs, Bakerella. She (Angie Dudley) was recently on Martha (sad I missed that one) making one of her cute creations...Cupcake Pops.

Angie has a tutorial on making her Cupcake Pops along with a link to her appearance on Martha. I would also suggest taking time to check out the rest of Bakerella for creative and simple desserts. She puts a spin on several different truffles, like Oreo Truffles,

and Nutter Butter Truffles.

I had heard of cake based truffles last year after teaching a candy making class to the ladies in my church. One of the women in my class asked me if I had ever done them and went on to explain how easy they were. That got me interested and I started to research it (as usual). It didn't take me long to find Bakerella and I can't wait until we move, so I can continue experimenting in the kitchen.

Shrinky Dink Rings!

Does anyone else remember playing with shrinkable plastic in their adolescent years? I know I loved making little charms for bracelets & key chains. As I was packing some of my craft supplies, I found a small supply of unused Shrinky Dinks sheets. It reminded me of a tutorial, I found online, for rings. I'm going to try and make some with my mom and sisters on my visit next week.


P.S. I'm going to try to keep up with my craft blog, but it may be a bit slow in the next couple of months as we move!

On a Roll

It seems like I know several people having babies and that means lots of baby showers! Of course I can't just go get something off their registry...I have to create something. This process can be a bit frustrating and joyous at the same time. It also gives you a bad case of baby fever!

Sometimes you don't get the luxury of knowing the gender of the baby, so you have to come up with a gift that works no matter what. This is what led me to searching for a unisex baby gift. There are the typical go-to items like receiving blankets, bibs, stuffed animals, booties, etc...which are all generally easy to make. I wanted something a little more unique that they may not get otherwise. I found the Nappy Roll! It doesn't have a "pattern", but it does have dimensions and great instructions. I think it is a very practical gift and it is now on my list for baby shower gifts!













The Nappy Roll reminded me of the Crayon Roll found on one of my fav blogs Skip To My Lou.

This would be fun for young children and convenient for packing them around. It is much sturdier then the box that the crayons usually come in and a lot cuter. For older children, you could alter the pattern a bit to fit markers or colored pencils.
